Your Travel Scientists Adventure Rally Guide

Caucasus off road trip adventure

The new year has started and one thing you know for sure: This year you need more adventure and excitement in your life! You’ve come to the right place at the Travel Scientists, because that’s exactly what we do: adventure. But we get that sometimes it can be a little tough to choose the one trip, which is the right for you, hence we’ve provided a little adventure rally guide, to help you in the decision making process!

The Rickshaw Challenge

Drive through India in your own rickshaw – superhero costumes optional! (Image: Travel Scientists)

What is it?

A crazy rickshaw race across India. Yes, you read correctly! You and your team mates will drive your own rickshaw through the crazy Indian traffic, crossing mega cities and small villages, passing temples, rice fields and coconut palms – with an occasional trip to the beach.

We give you a rickshaw, an itinerary and – depending on the package you choose – we also take care of your accommodation. Experience true adventure during the day and relax in the evening with the other teams, sharing crazy stories from the road. And to make exploring even easier for you, we have a luggage truck, which will bring your big suitcases to the next hotel each day , so you don’t have to worry about anything while being on the road, except about finding the right one.

What makes it special?

This is a way to experience India in its most authentic form far from any group tour. In fact, you’ll probably go for days without seeing any other travellers. And how many people can claim that they’ve been driving a rickshaw for thousands of kilometers – and survived?

Who should go?

Everybody. No matter if your are old or young, Australian or Italian, if you have rally experience or not. This trip is designed for everybody. All you need is a thirst for adventure and a little bit of craziness.

The Central Asia Rally

Not your average highway. (Image: Travel Scientists)

What is it?

The Travel Scientists’ Central Asia Rally is probably one of the most adventurous, interesting and versatile out there in the rally world.  Driving on remote mountain roads without meeting another car for hours – check. Visit impressive historical monuments of great beauty – check. Driving through wide valleys, crossing snow covered mountain peaks and wild rivers in some of the most stunning landscapes – check. A steady supply of some of the best vodka flowing every evening – check. We can’t promise that you’ll make it across the finish line, but we can promise you, that if you make it, you’ll see the world differently than before.

What makes it special?

This is real adventure, during which we’ll go to places your GPS might not even know exist. The combination of high adrenaline legs with visiting the ancient Silk Road cities Samarkand, Khiva and Bukhara as well as the breathtaking landscapes of Central Asia  makes this rally a trip that is hard to beat.

Who should go?

Real adventurers and explorers. The ones who can quote all Indiana Jones movies in full. The ones whose idea of a swell time is sleeping on the floor and not having a shower for 3 days. The ones who are scared of nothing except boredom. – On a more serious note, for this trip you do need sufficient driving experience on difficult terrain, this is not a relaxing read trip but a real test of driving skills and endurance.

The Caucasian Challenge

The famous towers of Svaneti, Georgia. (Image: Travel Scientists)

What is it?

A road trip from Istanbul to Armenia’s capital Yerevan. After a quick stop at the Black Sea coast of Turkey, this rally focuses on two countries: One is Georgia, which we like to call the cradle of civilization, as this is the place where supposedly wine was invented. The other is Armenia, the world’s first Christian kingdom. We’ll visit medieval monasteries, Stalin’s birthplace, the mysterious towers of Svaneti in the Caucasian Mountains and much more.

What makes it special?

For reasons unknown to us, the Caucasus doesn’t appear on many people’s travel radar. But hey, more space for us! The Caucasus is unique in its mix of culture, hospitality, culinary traditions and amazing landscapes. One or two former conflict zones drizzled in for more excitement and we have a perfect destination for one of the Travel Scientists’ adventure rallies.

Who should go?

If you have a taste for adventure, but like to balance it out with all the good things life has to offer – specifically good food and wine – then, this is the right trip for you. We mix up visiting former war zones and untouched mountains with the culinary delights of Georgia and Armenia – better pack those sweat pants, you might gain a few pounds!

The India’s Cup

Indian sunsets are magical. (Image: Travel Scientists)

What is it?

The India’s Cup is an adventure rally across the south of the India subcontinent. Like with all of the Travel Scientists’ rallies, it’s not the most important thing to arrive first, but to arrive with the best stories and experiences along the way. We’ve carefully chosen a route which offers a vibrant mix of culture and countryside, of relaxation and adventure to make sure you’ll have the best time.

What makes it special?

This is your chance to get to know India on a deeper and more personal level than people who just tick of the Taj Mahal of their bucket list. Meet the locals and get to know Indian cultures, traditions and cuisines on eye level with them and not through the windows of a tourist bus.

Who should go?

Everybody who wants to see a different India than most tourists do with a little more comfort than a rickshaw offers and who is not scared of driving on the left side of the road in the crazy Indian traffic. This trip is a perfect mix of driving, culture, nature und delicious food and we guarantee you’ll go home with memories that will last a lifetime.

The Moroccan Escapade

Hanging out with the boy. (Image: Moroccan Escapade)

What is it?

The newest addition the the Travel Scientists’ adventure rally selection is a whirlwind trip which takes you in a circle from exotic Marrakesh to the edge of the Sahara and back again with a stop at the Atlantic coast. Get to know Morocco, gateway to Africa and melting pot of African, Muslim and European culture far from the usual tourist track. Sleep under the desert sky and count the millions of stars, cruise the dunes of the Sahara on a quad bike or even switch your wheels for a camel for a while. You won’t get bored during the Morcoccan Escapade.

What makes it special?

Deserts have their very own magic with their silence, their infinity, seemingly being hostile to any life, yet bursting with it, if you just look close enough. Not many can say that they have been driving through the dunes of the Sahara, the world’s largest desert. Wouldn’t it be nice to be one if them?

Who should go?

This is a trip for all desert lovers, but truly also for everybody else. We’ve chosen some pretty nice hotels for you and even during our nights in the desert, we’ll sleep in comfortable beds. Driving in the desert needs some driving skills, but it’s nothing you couldn’t manage with a little bit of practice.

The Great Balkan Ride

A short break with a nice view. (Image: Travel Scientists)

What is it?

The Great Balkan Ride is a (more or less) relaxed road trip through the lesser travelled parts of the Balkans. Everybody knows Croatia with its beautiful beaches, but did you know that Albania  offers just the same? It’s no secret, that Slovenia is a natural paradise, but did you know that Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina don’t stand back in anything with their wild rivers and untouched mountains? For good measure we’ve sprinkled in some culture, visiting the famous monasteries of Meteora in Greece and we’ll finish the trip with a feast of Greek delicacies in Thessaloniki.

What makes it special?

This trip is probably one of the more relaxed ones the Travel Scientists offer. The roads are easy to drive and the daily distances leave ample time for relaxing and exploring. This is your opportunity to explore the last ‘wild’ parts of Europe together with some new friends, who are just as adventurous as you.

Who should go?

Everybody looking for an adventure, but for a relaxed one. For this trip we can promise you nice hotels (except you choose differently) and tons of Cevapcici, seafood and Raki each day. We’ve even thrown in some time at the Mediterranean beach for you to relax.

The Baltic Run

Don’t forget your winter tyres! (Image: Travel Scientists)

What is it?

The Baltic Run is a winter rally exploring Poland and the Baltic states Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Like all of the Travel Scientists’ adventure rallies, this one is full of unexpected events and surprises, but  there is one thing we can guarantee: It will be very, very cold!

What makes it special?

Did we already mention that it’s gonna be quite cold? Additionally you’ll get the opportunity to explore a part of Europe which only slowly starts making it on people’s itineraries. That combined with an overflow of vodka to keep you warm makes the Baltic Run a unique adventure rally you should not miss out on.

Who should go?

Everybody who wants to start the new year a bit differently from everybody else – and everybody whose second skin are long underwear and moon boots or who was never bothered by the cold anyway.
